When linking to a process with variations, generally from a general process with no variation, you have to link to one specific variation, or link to all variations in parallel. It would be better if you could link from one general process to the overarching process, from which point the user automatically opens their default variation, or choses the relevant one from the list.
I second this idea. The ability to create a link to either the overarching variation title or a specific process variation would be ideal. There are scenarios where multiple variations may need to be linked within a process for completeness and this can clutter the map and make it confusing. By selecting the overarching process and providing guidance on which variation(s) to view in the previous activity, the map will be streamlined and less confusing.
The downstream impact of linking to the variation title only is that you wouldn't want the system to auto choose a specific variation that can be expanded (where the variations have been published). In this scenario, the end user should either be able to dynamically choose the variation they would like to expand, or, turn this feature off when the variation title is selected forcing the user to click on the process link and choose a variation.
