Reprting API for Nintex Process Manager that uses the OData interface.
ADMIN RESPONSE
Sep 7, 2022
Hi all! Sorry for the slow response on this one as well as the delayed release. We will be releasing the Reporting API for Improvements Add on in Sept 2019 and next up will be API for Process data, followed by risk but timing on those is TBD.
Hi Les There are many of us waiting for an improvement in the reporting options in Promapp, including scheduling of reports.
You may want to go vote on the suggestion named 'API reporting capabilities' item here in customer voice. Nintex have started work on the API but there's no release date (it's been promised for over 12 months). Hopefully we see it soon!
We have recently introduced two new Key Risk Indicators for the business to encourage executives to ensure that their team is using promapp regularly to review and document their processes.
The new KRI's are, 1. how many processes are overdue for review, and 2. how many new/reviewed processes were completed by the business in the past month.
I'm currently pulling a change log and overdue process report, creating pivot table's in excel and emailing them to the team each month.
It would be a valuable addition to your software to introduce an automated report with this information sent to me via email on the 1st of each month to share with the executive team.
Thanks,
Les Bailey Chief Strategy Officer - Regional Australia Bank
Many of us have been waiting for 2+ years for the process management API. It's been dropped off the product roadmap now (maybe they were embarrassed that it just kept getting carried forward each quarter).
I've been told (last year) they're still working on it but there's no date.
Can someone from Nintex please provide a date for when this API will be available. We need to have access to the KPI and SLA data in our Power BI dashboards to present process values versus actual values.
Thanks for getting in touch. We are currently working on our Process reporting API. There is a lot of data to ingest and expose so we'll be doing this in waves starting with process health (published, in progress, out of date), then process views and feedback.
We have an existing idea for this so I'll merge this with the original.
We have implemented connecting data from the Improvements Module to Power BI via API Key (which is fantastic) and we would like to replicate the same with the reports available within Promapp. The Promapp dashboard doesn't provide the level of detail we require, which is obtained through the reports. For example, the Promapp dashboard gives a percentage of process views but we are wanting to look at greater detail on a dashboard.
API is in the works (has been for about three years!), and I believe is getting 'close'. Many of us have been waiting a long time for this and it will make our lives so much easier once it's released.
I'm going to nest this request here because I think it is related and will be seen. We rely on Tableau for data visualization. At the moment, we can connect to the Improvements Reporting API with Power BI, but would like to also be able to connect with Tableau. This would be a similar ask for the future Process Reporting API as well. Thank you.
Voted and looking forward to this being delivered too. Do we have an updated ETA? The list of people asking for an update over the last few years doesn't fill me with confidence. As a new user of Promapp I'm surprised this functionality 1, doesn't exist and 2, changed to 'started' in August 2019. The 'export to XML' function provides a significant amount of functionality which I've used to generate a range of dashboards in PowerBI, I would have thought this data could be accessible using the same API method used to access the 'improvements' module. Has anyone looked into using Power Automate to automatically extract this data? I might give it a go as it'll probably take less time than waiting for this idea to be implemented.
Hi Eddie Thomas, there is a way to use Power Automate (Cloud Flows) to extract the XMLs from Promapp and if you have your Power BI already setup to consume the XMLs, even better for you :)
I won't share the whole setup as it's quite long but ultimately you can log in as a Promaster using the Bypass Login page with Power Automate using the 'HTTP' action in Power Automate. Then you can use another 'HTTP' action to 'GET' the export XML link (which is constructed with the process/group unique ID so it's easy to re-construct in the URL).
You will need to play around a bit in Power Automate because every 'HTTP' action is a new instance so that does mean, if your first 'HTTP' action logged you in as a Promaster, that session won't carry over to the second 'HTTP' action. You'll need to extract the cookie from the first 'HTTP' response and then add that cookie to the second 'HTTP' action.
It's a pity there wasn't an update on this at Process Fest - this is our top need for the Promapp product.
At Sun Life, we are scaling up Promapp as a service within the global HR organization. Our CHRO wants us to go bigger and into the business and geographies.
Better performance data is needed to have effective and meaningful KPIs and we want to integrate some data with other systems within HR.
It would be great to enable Business Analysts and Promasters to create, generate, and publish custom reports for promapp processes within promapp. Even better if an API existed to connect to data and generate reports/dashboards in conjunction with external data sources.
While the extracts are useful, they only provide a point in time report.
Thanks.

I hope this makes sense :)
Good luck.
